Just some random thougts...

 

maybe I should install del.icio.us again? ppl are talking about tagging emails, tagging photos, tagging blogs, tagging websites... so there must be something that I'm missing. It all goes back to the question: since when did I start blogging? There was a certain period of time I was really in to it, one or two blogs a day was normal, sometimes even three, I shared almost everyday of my life with my friends on the blogs, then the passion was gone.

 

Another period of time, all I ever cared about was geo-location. The physical presence of a person in the space can suddenly be represented over the internet, so there are geo-anchored threads, photos, news, even social networks. Hundreds of Google Maps, Virtual Earth mashups, a number of GoogleEarth games, these really caught ppl's attention at some point of time. Then there are GeoRss, Geo-tagging and location-annotation mobile, it sounds a lot of fun... hum, however, how many ppl are really using it? At least, I am not one of them...

 

Maybe we are still not advanced enough yet, we still love to hang out with friends, face to face, we still like talking better than typing, so when we arrived at a new place, we'd like to build our new social networks through all possible ways. So our new friends who are co-presence with us are more likely to be our strong ties for that period of time, eventually new friends become the ones we'd like to talk to, and share our daily events, stories and expriences with. Old friends will become weak ties if there are no contacts, once there is a co-presence in either the physical space or cyber space, it becomes a potentially strong tie again. Here comes the most interesting part, because there is distance between two geographicall locations, we couldn't get from A to B in the blink of an eye, that's where co-presence matters so much to us, we would say "Hey, what a coincidence!" if we have an old friend who happenes to sit right next to us on a bus trip. We could imagine that we traveled through time and space and get together again at this point of time to pick up the talk where we left off, then our world and our friend's world is connected and continuous again.

 

As a matter of fact, I would like to make a contact list tonite to make my world continous with my friends' world! It can be hard to reach some of my old best friends, though...

Drinking diet soda may not be helping you lose weight
In fact, scientists at the University of Texas found people who drink had a higher risk of obesity........

They say for every can of diet soda consumed each day, a person's risk of obesity went up 41-percent.

However, scientists say this study does not prove that diet soda causes obesity. They say many people drink diet sodas to justify eating fattier foods.

The study is in the International Journal of Obesity.
